Is 2017 Adelanto’s Year of Growth?

As mentioned in the Victorville Daily Press, December 25, 2016, here are some developments to watch in Adelanto for 2017: 1. Stater Bros. Stadium’s ability to attract – the City Council agreed to hire the San Bernardino County Fair to manage marketing efforts for the stadium in hopes of building upon early cornerstone events like the rodeo. Then it was announced that an independent professional baseball team would play its inaugural season at the stadium, carving out two months of scheduling from late May to late July. The Fair’s success in attracting popular events will be key to Adelanto realizing its vision of becoming a regional entertainment hub. 2. The golden era of medical cannabis – with up to eight growers expected to be up and running by mid-year, city Accounting Supervisor Penny Rose recently projected the first significant returns for revenue through the city’s Measure R will hit at the start of the new fiscal year in July. Measure R’s returns during the anticipated summer will provide the public with the first view of the depth of the industry. 3. Pot’s residual effect – the medical cannabis industry’s impact is expected to extend beyond the industry itself and stoke growth for business as a whole, like for example, more restaurants, hotels, industrial businesses and better roads, parks and other city entities. The city’s ability to transfer any momentum from its marijuana dealings to other businesses will start to be seen by mid-year.
